Francis Crick and Leslie Orgel's 1973 proposal that life on Earth began when an advanced extraterrestrial civilisation deliberately sent microorganisms across interstellar space; distinct from natural panspermia in requiring intentional action by an intelligent sender, and not supported by any direct evidence.
